Weaved around the fortunes of a widowed housewife from an affluent suburb in California, ‘Weeds’ is an American comedy drama that premiered on August 2005 and has, successfully, completed four seasons. The series exposes the secrets behind the manicured lawns and pristine closed windows of wealthy neighborhood. The sudden and unexpected death of her husband results in deep financial crisis for Nancy Botwin who needs cash flow to maintain the wealthy suburban lifestyle she is so used to. With no other way open, she turns to Conrad Shepard and his family and start dealing in cannabis using a bakery as a facade to move the goods only to discover that everyone including the city councilman Doug Wilson secretly wants what she is selling. Helped by her wayward black-sheep brother-in-law, Andy, she struggles to keep her new vocation a secret from her children and her nosy neighbor, pseudo friend and PTA president Celia Hodes.
