The Prince of Tennis
“The Prince of Tennis” is an animated show. It was first premiered on
10th October 2001. “The Prince of Tennis” is about a 12 year old boy; Ryoma Echizen, four times successive American Junior Tennis Tournament winner. His father, Nanjiroh Echizen, a legendary tennis player, calls Ryoma back to Japan to join Seishun Gakuen Middle School. With regular practice and dedication towards tennis, Ryoma becomes known for his deadly, un-returnable twist serve. His cool confidence and good tennis playing creates many fans in the school. Shioin Higaki, a lonely girl who watches Ryoma playing, becomes his fan. Ryoma also saves her from a group of school boys in the train.
On joining the school, it is not at all easy for Ryoma to gel with everyone. On his arrival, he has to face, Kaoru Kaidoh, a second year tennis team boy, known as the Viper, also famous for his Snake Shot. Ryoma tackles the Snake Shot easily but is interrupted by the vice captain. On viewing his un-returnable twist serve, the vice captain admits him into the team. During the match with Fudomine Middle School, he unfortunately injures his eye. But with a firm determination to win, he brings a victory to Seishun Gakuen Middle School.
Winning Fudomine Middle School is just the beginning. Later on Ryoma and the school team has to face competitive schools like – Rokkaku Middle School, Rikkai Diagaku Fuzoku and Shitenhoji. After winning over these schools, Ryoma surely proves himself to be “The Prince of Tennis” of Seishun Gakuen Middle School.
