The Riches

A dedication to “Stealing the American dream”, the comedy drama series ‘The Riches’ follows the fortunes of a traveling family of con artists, the Malloys. This Golden Globe Award and Emmy Award nominated series made its appearance on television on March 12, 2007. The show has been described as a “family show” albeit one featuring the most unusual family ever seen by the TV viewers before.
After spending their youth pulling cons with a band of traveling Irish Gypsies, Wayne Malloy is faced with spiritual and midlife crisis and begins to question where his and his family’s life is headed. Living on the periphery of life out of the bounds of law, the family begins to wonder if it’s worth the effort as the family is rejoined by Dhalia Malloy, family’s mother who has just finished two year prison stint during which she has acquired drug addiction. On the road again with money stolen from the clan’s hoard of cash, Malloy’s, unwittingly, get involved with an accident which kills a stinking rich couple. Life takes a turn for the better as the family discovers that the dead couple had just bought a mansion in an affluent neighborhood some where in Louisiana and decide to move in there as the Riches. They convince their neighbors into believing they are who they claim to be using their hustling skills, but to their consternation, find out that life in suburbs is so much more tough and challenging than their previous life as traveling con artists, as they try to slip into the roles of the family they are impersonating.
