Judging Amy

Based on Amy Brenneman's mother's actual life, ‘Judging Amy’ is an American drama that completed six seasons on the television starting from September 19, 1999 until May 3, 2005. The series, staring Amy Brenneman in the role of a single mother and a Family Court judge, Judge Amy Gray, focuses on the three generation of women living together in Hartford, Connecticut. Amy Gray, at 34, is divorced and raising her young daughter Lauren while living with her very opinionated mother, Maxine. Maxine, a caseworker for the Department of Children and Family Services, often finds herself at crossroads with her boss, Sean (Timothy Omundson). In addition to many family related cases that she judges, the show also focuses on Amy’s personal experiences as a single parent and experiences of her mother as a social worker. In the season’s finale, Amy quits the judiciary to run for the US Senate.
